Maintenance Overview
I have seen too many stoppages, and eight of ten are the same neglect: bolts left loose, points left unlubricated, passages left uncleaned. The costliest was a Cebu impact crusher whose blow bar snapped, 8 hours down — that day's lost output would have bought half a year of wear parts. Make the lists below a habit and downtime drops sharply. Three things matter: track tension, lube points, screens and electrics.
Daily Checklist
- Walk-around before start: track, lines, bolts for anything abnormal; do not skip it, this round stops half the surprises. - Check oil and water: hydraulic, diesel, coolant within marks. - Listen: crusher, screen, belts for odd noise; a dulling sound often arrives before the alarm. - Clear oversize and debris from feed and chamber. - After rain, check cabinets and junction boxes for moisture; dampness is the number-one cause of electrical trips.
Weekly Checklist
- Re-tighten key bolts: swing jaw, impact rack, screen isolators; vibratory equipment loosens its own bolts.- Check track tension and roller wear; adjust if needed, too loose drops links, too tight eats rollers.- Grease lube points: bearings, pins, track rollers; use the specified grade, no mixing.- Check screen tension and damage, clear blockage; one torn screen breaks gradation at once.- Clean magnetic separator and return-belt buildup; iron in the chamber hurts more than clogging.
Monthly Checklist
- Sample hydraulic oil cleanliness; change or top filters; dirty oil is the silent killer of servo valves. - Trend main-shaft and bearing temperature; act early, do not wait for burnout. - Check chamber liner/blow-bar wear by scale; rotate blow bars to full life before replacing. - Calibrate electrical protection: overload, phase loss, ground; unchecked for three months it either trips false or fails to trip. - Back up control parameters; count wear-part stock so books match bin.
Fault Quick Reference
| Fault | Likely cause | Action |
| Low output | Uneven feed, clogged screen, worn liner | Even feed, clear screen, adjust/replace liner |
| Crusher noise | Loose bolt, foreign object, bad bearing | Tighten, clear chamber, replace bearing |
| Track no move | Low oil, stuck valve, motor fault | Refill, clean valve, inspect motor |
| Electrical trip | Moisture, bad ground, overload | Dry, check ground, reduce load |
| High return | CSS too large, torn screen | Reduce CSS, replace screen |
Wear Parts and Lubrication
- Jaw: teeth plate, toggle, side liner; replace by scale, both sides together for balance, one-side swap causes uneven wear. - Impact: blow bars, impact plate, liner; rotate bars to full life, do not wait for the snap. - Screen: mesh, springs; replace on damage to avoid chain failure; spare mesh is far cheaper than a spare machine. - Track: links, rollers, tension cylinder; keep moderate tension, a daily glance beats a monthly repair. - Lubrication: central pump on timer, denser in rainy season; specified grease only, mixed grades clot and block the pump.
Life Extension
- Even feeding outperforms slam-feeding and spares liners; do not pile the hopper too high. - Pre-screen high clay to keep chamber clear and cut wear; the cheapest single move. - Raise cabinet protection to IP55 before rains; one dry day saves a stop, do not wait for the trip. - Stock two months of wear parts; slow sea resupply won't bite; confirm key parts can fly. - Keep a run log: output, oil temp, part consumption, downtime cause; act on trends, cheaper than firefighting.
